Back-to-Back (and Back) Titles
Our By The Numbers looks at title streaks by Wolfpack sports teams over the years.
The women’s cross country team has enjoyed tremendous success the last few years, winning the national championship in 2021, 2022 and again in 2023. The team is also on a streak of eight consecutive ACC championships. The team’s recent championships got us thinking about other winning streaks by NC State teams through the years.
Women’s Cross Country
8 consecutive ACC championships, marked in recent seasons by strong performances from All Americans Katelyn Tuohy and Kelsey Chmiel ’21.

Wrestling
5 ACC championships (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023)
Men’s Basketball
The men’s basketball team brought home an ACC championship trophy in March. The beginning of a streak? Who knows — but the team won the first 3 ACC tournaments in 1954, 1955 and 1956. They were led by legendary coach Everett Case.
Men’s Swimming
With a conference championship in 2023 the Wolfpack swimmers have won eight of the last nine titles and 32 ACC championships in the team’s history.
The team won an impressive 12 consecutive conference championships from 1971–1982.
