Scientific understanding of the Tyrannosaurus rex has been turned upside down. NC State researchers recently discovered that the complete tyrannosaurus skeleton from the Dueling Dinosaurs fossil they began studying in 2024 is not a T. rex but a newly defined, smaller species, Nanotyrannus lancensis.
