Diana Schnaider, a freshman from Moscow, Russia, was the tournament MVP after easily winning her singles match against UNC’s top player. Sophie Abrams, a junior from Germantown, Tenn., closed out the championship with a two-set sweep in her singles match.

The team went on to make a great run in the NCAA tournament in May. They reached the championship match, where they once again found themselves competing against the top-ranked UNC team. The Tar Heels came out on top in the rematch to win the national championship, but the Wolfpack’s Amelia Rajecki got some revenge in the subsequent singles tournament. The junior from Nottingham, England, defeated top-ranked Fiona Crawley of UNC before ultimately losing in the semifinals.
