Somewhere along the way, Robert Anae\u2019s relationship with his playbook changed. \u201cAs a younger coach, you just think everything\u2019s easy,\u201d says Anae, a veteran Division I college football coach who\u2019s in his first year as NC State\u2019s offensive coordinator. \u201cI had my giant playbook and flopped it on the table: \u2018Everybody, do that.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut those offenses are not as dynamic and as fluid as the offenses that I am able to be a part of currently because I have grown and learned to adjust schemes and players and put them in a better position to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NC State hopes to benefit from Anae\u2019s malleable approach and accumulated wisdom from his 36-year coaching career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anae was named the Wolfpack\u2019s offensive coordinator after the 2022 season. His last two coaching stints were in the ACC: Syracuse in 2022 and Virginia from 2016\u201321. Prior stops include BYU, Arizona, Texas Tech and Hawaii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anae has friends on the Wolfpack coaching staff\u2009\u2014\u2009Ruffin McNeil, Tony Gibson, Brian Mitchell, to name three\u2009\u2014\u2009and was quickly impressed by NC State\u2019s football program. \u201cOther places I\u2019ve been, you can tell there are cracks in the wall and holes in the dam, so to speak,\u201d he says. \u201cThis one, I\u2019ve been impressed with the entire structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m just hoping to do my part to convince a group of young men that we can do amazing things. It\u2019s time to win a championship. I\u2019d like to be a part of that.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false,"raw":"\n\n\n\n\n
