A new endowed scholarship will help students who have personal or family connections to the military, helping to enhance NC State\u2019s reputation as a military-friendly campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scholarship is the result of a gift by Jerry Collier \u201967 and his wife, Pat Collier, both of whom have military ties of their own. The Colliers have built a successful construction and property management company in Virginia Beach, Va., but only after Jerry Collier served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Pat Collier grew up in a Navy family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStudents who go into the military right out of high school and then decide they want to go to college, they may already be married and have a kid or two,\u201d says Jerry Collier. \u201cThose students probably have more needs than a student just coming out of high school. And we want to honor their service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
