One year after graduating college, Caroline Taylor \u201900 decided on a whim to audition for the Carolina Panthers\u2019 professional cheer team. \u201cOver 200 people tried out,\u201d she says. \u201cI showed up with no makeup and pigtails\u2009. . .\u2009not knowing the professional scale [of cheerleading] changes the look and what they\u2019re usually going for.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Taylor ended up making the cut and found an unexpected but welcome facet of her new part-time job. \u201cI was instantly connected with 34 other career-oriented women,\u201d she says. \u201cThe camaraderie and commitment they had to helping each other was a huge, pivotal point for me personally and career-wise. It completely changed my life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
